Russia’s Mail.Ru Group offers iOS app for content recommendations

MOSCOW, May 16 (PRIME) -- Russian Internet giant Mail.Ru Group has launched an iOS application, called Likemore, which provides users with recommendations for content from popular Web sites and communities of domestic social network VKontakte on the basis of the user’s interests profile, the company said in a statement Monday.

“Over the past year and a half, the Mail.Ru search engine team has been working on creation of a large-scale recommendation platform, which collects information on users’ behavior in open sources and builds a personal profile of their interests,” Andrei Kalinin, head of the search engine department, said.

Likemore delivers content directly to final users. “To some extent it could be named a personal navigator for Internet content,” Kalinin said.

The system aggregates content of some 2,000 popular Internet sources. At the first launch, the application offers the user to choose interesting sections out of 13 possible. Likemore can be synced with an account in VKontakte, social network Odnoklassniki or Mail.Ru’s e-mail service.
